Finally Spring!!

Not in the mood for pants or leggings today? Well, floor-grazing maxi skirts and dresses are having a moment right now! Maxis have always been a style "go-to" for me. They are comfortable, easy, flattering, and down-to-earth (literally). Plus, the style is perfect for those "it's a bit chilly, but I don't want to wear pants" days.

I must state the obvious: Fashion always recycles itself. This spring, every spring, it's always best to wear Maxi skirts! No matter what type of body you have, there is a skirt for you!! Of course you should always pick the skirt that best fits you! When worn correctly, maxi skirts and dresses are as flattering as they are fashionable. However, playing picking the right shirt can be tricky. To avoid saying/questioning "does this look good" or "this isn't for me" check out these tips...
  1. The sky’s the limit. No matter your height (yes, I am talking about you, petite ladies) you can wear floor length dresses and skirts. That’s why they invented heels, HELLO!!???
  2. It’s a balancing act. Keep the scale of the skirt in mind. Floor length skirts look lovely with tighter fitting tops (tucked in and/or belted at the natural waist). If the skirt is cut closer to the body, go for a looser top! Cropped jackets and sweaters also look great with floor length dresses and skirts. My favorite is just topping the whole look with a jean cropped jacket for those colder nights!
  3. Be bold! Fashion is all about taking risks! Maxi skirts can be styled with slouchy sweaters, tied denim shirts, and simple tucked-in tees for an effortless yet chic look.
  4. Short figure. The best skirts for short figues are tapered straight (slim) skirts. Length should be around the knee; if it's either too long or too short, the skirt can make you appear even shorter although you have shaply legs, a shorter skirt can make them seem longer.
  5. Thick waist. Wear skirts that draw attention to your legs and away from for waist. Wear long an full skirts. Try your best to avoid any shirts that have embellishments in the middle! Those will draw attention to your waist for sure and you don't want that!
  6. Curvy Figure: Choose skirts with a flat front, side or back zippers, no waistband if you have a thick waist (or keep if you have a waist to show off), flat-textures with little stretch, and soft, fabrics to float over curves. As with the short figure, an off-center slit can help draw attention to the legs and not the curves. The type of skirts you want to avoid are box styles, stiff fabrics, pleats, patch pockets, and any horizontal patterning. Don't wear any skirts that are too tight! That's a big no no!
  7. Larger stomachs: Wear skirts that are lightly tapered. This means to refuse in thickness. You want the skirt to drape. Avoid waistband or just remove them completely, anything thight (don't buy them), front pockets, and anything with huge dot patterns.
  8. Boy like figure: Skirts suitable for this type of figure include most styles although if you are concerned that your legs are too skinny, wear a long skirt with a slit or buttons on the front to increase the leg appeal. If you have a skinny waist wear a wide belt, it will add attention to the waist.
  9. Flat bottom: wear tight shirts (not too tight) and any skirts with a cuts along the legs.
  10. Long waist, short legs: wear straight skirts to give your legs length! The best length for the skirt would usually be between mid-thigh and above the knee. Wear short tops or jackets. Rely on vertical embellishments to give a sense of length as well!
  11. Short waist, long legs: Look for skirts which are straight and have a dropped waist. Skirts that hip-hug or are low-rise, no waistband, and low-slung skirts are also a good choice!
  12. Large thighs: This figure is flattered by skirts that are loose and drape or have soft pleats. Try to avoid wearing narrow skirts!!
  13. REMEBER: If you're confident enough to wear something, nobody's going to care much (except your mother) So if you find it and love it just wear it regardless! Own your body to the fullest And again be bold!

I'm so proud of him because I know he has been wanting this for the longest time!! It's really sad to think about how long he will be gone for, but my mom and I will be taking it day by day!
And since I know he always reads my blog and is my biggest supporter just wanted to say that I couldn't ask for a better dad, I couldn't be more proud of you and I love you so much daddy!
3) Pictures of my hair will be up soon! My hair is curly now and I do have a few pictures of when it was first done but they weren't really good so once I take better ones, they will be up!
