Missed

I think before I continue with this post, I should be apologizing to all of you.. It has been a little more than a month since we last spoke and that is not a good thing whats-so-ever. I do have some reasons though as well as great news: First things first, I told you guys before how important school has been for me so I have been extremely focused with that and only that. Then on weekends I don't have the energy to get dressed up after work because by then it's already too late for me to go anywhere. I honestly believe that this is the first weekend where I am not working. Yesterday, I was doing my last minute Christmas shopping so I was literally out until 7 at night. Once I got home, the first thing I did was hop into the shower and put on some sweats. Today I decided to do some pampering and I got my nails done as well as my eyebrows. I have been a true bed bum today and just spending time with my family here at home (nothing wrong with that, right?).
The last thing I wanted to tell you guys is what a friend of mine and I have been working on and finally are able to say that it's happening.... drum roll please; We have officially started a fashion club at my high school and came up with some really good ideas. My blog, this blog, our blog, has became known to the school (and others around the world) and will be used by my fellow classmates to share any ideas they have or even fashion issued events coming up in the school. This blog went from just me putting my ideas on a screen to something bigger. I only got here, the place I am today, with the help of all of you from just clicking on the link to sharing the word verbally to friends and family friends. So this is a huge shout-out to all of you and telling you guys how appreciative I am to have such positive people around me.
A new chapter in my life has began with a special person by my side encouraging me to do better. Learning to surround yourself with positive people is the best accessory in any lifetime and lifestyle because your smile is also your best accessory.
Back to where I started: Christmas is in a couple of days and I still do not have a Christmas outfit (can I use the excuse of this being fashionably late or??). I am not sure if most of you know what you are wearing but considering I spent so much time at the mall yesterday I was able to see some outfit ideas from some of the mannequins. Here is what I put together from some stores viewed:

Sequined Skirt + Cozy Sweater
This is one of my favorite looks for a holiday party or Christmas dinner/New Years party. Mixing textures is a fun way to add interest to an outfit, and I love how this knit sweater dresses down this sequin skirt.

Faux Fur + Little Black Dress
This oversized textured coat is an unexpected (and quite cozy) way to complete almost any outfit. It’s feminine and a little bit funky; perfect to throw over a cocktail dress for a night out or over jeans and a t-shirt during the day (my favorite way to use them).
Skinny Jeans + Tailored Jacket
A tailored jacket is one those pieces that can completely change the look of an outfit. Pairing it with a silk blouse and a pair of skinny jeans creates the perfect look for a day at the office or just normal run a-rounds. It’s functional while maintaining stylish. Adding a pop of color with shoes would be just as perfect.
Leather Jacket + Lace Maxi
This is one of my favorite day-to-night looks. Mixing a feminine dress and a leather jacket is a great way to attain a fresh look.

15 Clutch Essentials:

by 7:07 PM
While my handbag motto has always been “the bigger the better,” some style stories and evening activities simply demand a clutch. Below is a list of my 15 clutch essentials to help prepare you for anything the night may bring…

 Clutch: DSW

Mints – When chatting with friends or an awkwardly small table, personal-space-violations are inevitable, and fresh breath just becomes common courtesy.
Small brush – After going out to the city for a night or just walking down a few blocks to your favorite restaurant for a get together, a brush is oh so necessary! The wind can sometimes be our friends, but we always have those bad hair days . Learn from my mistake, ladies. Come prepared with a mini brush.
Hand sanitizer –When you are out in public going from train to train or just using a public bathroom, germs are everywhere so after washing your hands of course, put some on. (Carry a little lotion on the go as well to add the moister back to your hands).
Cash – I am mostly a person who always carries cash, but I know others rather have their debit cards, but there are still places that don’t take debit cards, so having a few small bills on hand for tips and the occasional tin cup, is always a good idea…Especially in big cities.
Drivers license and credit/debit cards – Both of these are probably a no brainer, but they’re also the most fundamental items in your clutch. Before you leave the house, double check that you have these critical plastics.

Mini perfume – Mini perfume bottles are my favorite thing to keep in my clutch, handbag and makeup bag. They always come in handy and keep you from smelling like your immediate surroundings. (Recently obsessed with the Flowerbomb perfume by Victor and Rolf. Smells like heaven).
Change – Quarters aren’t only good for laundry day. It’s important to keep a few on hand for paying those pesky parking meters or just for that exact change!
Pain reliever – If you’re prone to headaches like me, a pain reliever that’s in reach is a requirement for survival. It is truly a life saver.
Lipstick, Chapstick, and gloss – Eating and drinking is your lipstick’s biggest enemy, so it’s crucial to keep some color in your clutch for reapplications throughout the night. I always have my favorite chapstick nearby to keep my lips hydrated and full of natural looking shine (that goes for the gloss too).
Powder – I’ve noticed that the more fun one has during a night out, the quicker their makeup fades. A compact pressed powder should always be a beauty essential to keep your skin looking fresh instead of faded. (I use the FIT powder by Maybelline).
Bandages – We hobble. We fall. We dance like we’re at a Katy Perry concert. Bandages are the perfect aid for irresponsible mishaps (or those new pair of shoes that looks so good but hurt so bad).
Bobby pins and hair bands – If only our hair could maintain the same status as the one we left the house with, life would be so much simpler, wouldn’t it? Unfortunately “elements” and what-not always seem to prevail, requiring an immediate hair rescue aka bobby pins.
Pack of tissues – Tissues are great to use for blotting off surface oil from your skin and correcting make up smudges. Okay, little tip: We all know how public bathroom have the toilet seat paper thing that you put on the toilet for you to sit on, right? So, if you take a little piece of it and dab it on your face, it helps with taking off the oil off your face! (DIY? I think yes!)
Backup phone charger – This is just self explanatory. You neeeeeed this.
Stain removing pen – To prevent yourself from having to flaunt a food or stain from who knows where on your outfit all evening, an instant stain remover, like a Tide Pen, has the power to save your garment and your dignity.(You could get these at your local drug store).

What are some “clutch essentials” that you can’t leave the house without?
Let me know in the comments below.

Laying it Back

by 1:07 PM

Happy happy Tuesday!
T-shirts are definitely one of my go-to pieces that always has my back. We all know how a t-shirts feels and mostly, we wear them to bed. So when you are able to add a t-shirt to your outfit and dress it up, it's one of my favorite things ever! (It's the simple things, ya know?)
Great thing about fashion? there are no set rules...
Layering up to make a simple t-shirt a bit more interesting is always the fun part.

I like to always use a shirt in a fun print (like polka dots, gingham, plaid, etc). This time, this T-shirt has leather on the upper back and half of the shoulders.
BUT, before I get into my outfit, I just want to take a second to talk about pea coats and trench coats briefly. I have been on the hunt for a beige trench coat and cannot to seem to find it anywhere. So my point here is if you guys know of some places where they sell cute ones, please let me know!! (Comment on my Instagram post (@kalynrodriguezz) or comment right here on my blog!)

It was such a beautiful today, but chilly this morning, so that is really why I had a coat with me. Plus, I think it is officially time to start talking about outerwear for the fall! (That post will be coming up this weekend!)
I hope your day has been fantastic and that it continues that way! Happy voting day!

Shirt: One Clothing
Pants: Old Navy
Shoes: Converse
Belt: Old Navy
Necklace: Express
Pea Coat: Old Navy

Cheap is NOT the Word..

by 4:29 PM
I love how easily a pair of perfect sneakers can fit into anyone's wardrobe. Whether it's a pair of lace ups, zip on the side, or one of my favorites, slip-on's, they all still make your wardrobe go from "one of those days" to sporty chic. As all of you know, I love sales and how I have been trying my best to not buy right away, but to look around and find something that is somewhat similar...
So, I have currently been so obsessed with the Ecentric slip on's from Steve Madden... Here is my story:

They are $79.95 ... see my problem? I was just going to buy them as soon as I saw them, but took a peek at the price. My first thought was I don't care, I have to have them, but then the second thought was damn.. The price made me want to tear up a bit, so I just decided to sleep on it and then if I could not find them anywhere else then, I would just have to buy them (that was the deal, right?). Lucky enough Forever 21 had my back for $31.52.
They have their differences, but they also have their similarities. Their purpose would be the same and whichever outfit I would have decided to pair the Steve Madden one's with, I could do the same with the Forever 21 one's. As I always say, it is not the brand that matters, it is how you choose to wear it.
You guys also should know that I am not talking badly about one company compared to the other. I just like to save money and if I could do that, then I would love to share and save you some money as well.
Hope your weekend has been going fantastically and that it continues that way!
I also hope your Halloween was safe and enjoyable. If you are still celebrating, well keep enjoying it!!

Love you guys!
PS: We surpassed 15,000 pageviews!!!!!!!! This is SO amazing! Thank you all so much for the help, you guys are the best!

Little Secrets

by 5:12 PM

Sometimes we tend to try things and end up not liking it. Other times trying new things could lead to higher and better things...

There's nothing like playing around with your hair and makeup. With me, it's being able to play around with my clothes and making something that's not so trendy or "old" become new and shining it in a different light (I give second chances a lot, weather it's with my clothes or people in general- which I guess wouldn't be consider second chances if I give chances more than twice....) Nothing will ever get old/be cheap as long as you know how to pair it!
So now I will give you the scoop about my little secret;
If you thought I was wearing a dress here, I was not- well kinda...

Drum roll please....
It's a romper (the pink one from a previous blog post called "Little Pink Romper") covered up with this long button down which in fact was the second piece of a dress. As a result, I put them together and WALA!
I added a belt and my Roman shoes and it was a wrap ya'll!!
Second Secret:
I guess everyone thought it was on purpose that I had this bun today, but honestly, I was just not having a good hair day so a bun was the next choice.

Wearing:
Pink Romper: H&M
Shoes: Burlington
Brown Belt: Marshall's
Polka Dot Button Down: Old Navy

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!!!!

Oh boy, I'm so excited for this season, it's great, it's perfect, it's magnificent! Fall is, without-a-doubt, my favorite season; it's not too hot and not too cold. Plus, of course, we can't forget about the fashion- fall fashion! *heart eyes emoji*

Today was a pretty good day for me so hope it was the same for all of you.

So onto my outfit:
Dress: Macy's
Cardigan: it's actually a shirt- it was my grandmas but I kinda took it... Shhhh
Boots: Charlotte Russe
Knee high socks: Free People

I was pretty comfy all day, and I do have a cold (sicky poo) so I was kind of cold, but if it wasn't because I was sick I'm sure this outfit was just fine for today's weather.
My hair was not pulled back in a low bun all day, but I did have it like that for a short period of time today.

P.S We're almost at 13,000 views!!! That makes me so happy, thanks so much everyone! Especially because a lot of you still come on my blog almost every day just to check if I have posted anything (I see you!), which means so much to me! Thanks again!

It's a Curls World

HAPPY SUNDAY SUNSHINES!!

How are we all?! As always hoping the answer to that is fantastic! Although tomorrow means going back to work or school in some places, today, just like every other day is a great day to have a great day (see what I did there). I went to the city today just out to a little brunch with my family and since I had not done an OOTD in a while I decided to take some pictures before we had left.

I was so excited to take pictures since I hadn't in while (like I just stated) I pulled out some red lipstick! Ugh, even getting dressed up a bit put me in such a good mood. Volleyball has officially started and that takes up most of my mornings so usually once I get home I shower and take a nap or work out some more. If I'm not doing either of those things, then I'm probably in someone's pool.
Slowly, but surely, the cold nights are starting to catch up and if you know me, fall is my favorite season! Layering up and not having to be in shorts all the time is something I love most! Plus that means more outfits to put up on the blog for you all to see!

Today, however, I decided to take out the shorts (these are actually not normal shorts, they are supposed to be high waisted) but as in previous posts ago I told you guys about "the new length" and having those boyfriend shorts. I pulled these down a bit and BOOM my own pair of 'the new length'... You guys should give it a try and tell me how it goes!

Black tank top: American Apparel
Yellow Blazer: Christian Dior
Shorts: Levi's
Shoes: Madden Girl
Bag: Forever 21

Don't forget to check out the post below this one and tell me what you guys think! Make sure to comment on it, it would mean a lot! Thank you guys!

I'm just kidding; I'm currently watching the show and I'm addicted... Love you all!

Lessons Learned

by 6:31 PM
Hello wonderful people! How have we all been?! I hope the answer to that is fabulous because I have some good news for my ladies! Well... and gents you can listen up too if you'd like:
I have decided that my blog shouldn't just be about clothing and who is big in the fashion world. I want to share some advice either from lessons that I have learned about life to even beauty tips/beauty hacks! I like to have interactions with you guys and learn from you as well!

So just as a starter, I'd like to share with you ladies some beauty tips on how long you should be having your makeup! I ended up doing some research on this topic because I had a mascara for a while and it was starting to dry up. (I'm no makeup artist, but a girl got worried!) It felt like I had just bought it so I searched up how long you should have a mascara for and the result of it was 3 months. When I searched that, this picture had come up and it really made me look at my makeup bag and see what was still good and what was not. I didn't have to do that much shopping for new supplies, but I did learn from it!

I hope this helps you guys out and helps you be more organized with your makeup bag. You should treat it the way it treats you because on those bad mornings, these are the supplies that help you out!

If you want to share some good brands to buy makeup from or any beauty tips/ questions I would love to make a post or maybe even a video answering all of your questions! You may all comment below and to do so just click on add comment and where it says "comment as" click the box to the right and go all the way down to where it says anonymous! Lastly click on publish! I hope to get some comments and or feedback on this!

Love you all! Xoxoxo

Black&White

by 7:10 AM

Happy Thursday everyone! Hope everyone's week has been going by great! Last night I went to dinner for my best friends birthday at Grand Lux Cafe in Garden State Plaza! The place was beautiful as well as the food!

Quick little shout out to them: Gabby and Daniela, I hope you guys had a fantastic birthday and thank you for being there for me fully! I love you guys so much and so glad I got to spend time with you both last night! Lots of kisses!

Now before this blog post begins to sound like a diary entry, let's get back to my outfit:
I had on this black and white squared designed top from Forever 21 and this skort inspired from Zara! My shoes are from Macy's, but the designer is American Rag

These shoes are probably the most comfortable heels I have ever worn! Cute little secret is that the strap is actually velcrow instead of a belt strap! I could probably play a whole soccer game in them because they are just so perfectly fitting!

I hope you all enjoyed this blog post as much as I had fun taking the pictures! Love you all!
(We are almost at 10k page views! AHHH)

Lots of love and kisses to you all! Thank you so much for all of the support!

Chole Grace Moretz

by 4:49 AM

I've been waiting to make a blog post about Chole Mortez for such a long time now and I am SO excited to share with you guys the love I truly have for her!
First, I would like to start off by giving her a HUGE congratulations on winning Fan Favorite Female Actress Award two nights ago (July 27th) at the Young Hollywood Actress Awards which was held in Los Angeles, California at The Wiltern!

Secondly, can we all just take a moment to admire how beautiful she looked!? The young star wore a Valentino macramé lace dress in several shades of red which was beautifully accented with a pointy collar from the Shanghai collection.

Her whole look evokes playful elegance, styled effortlessly with a bold red lip and black T-bar Christian Louboutin ‘Belly Nodo’ sandals. The red lips with the red dress can be so tricky to pull off, but of course Chloe did it and she totally rocked it!

As a actress, person, and entertainer, Chloe Grace Mortez is one to watch out for, I give her a big round of applause! She is truly blossoming into a young lady and I could not tell you how much I would love to follow her footsteps!

Matchy Matchy

What type of shopper are you?

I know I have a really bad habit of seeing something I like and wanting to buy it right there and then, but I am working on it! I have noticed that some of the stores are getting very repetitive with having the same styles of clothing. I mean of course, it's competition between stores, but that's something smart buyers have to start realizing. A top that you may see in one store may be $20 in another rather than $35 from the original top. That is $15 you can save to buy yourself a whole different top! Instead of just buying one, you can get two tops for the price of one just because you decided to look around another store!

This post isnt about trash talking stores or picking favorites because trust me, I have had my slips too with buying the more expensive top rather than saving that money. This is about helping you guys look for better and affordable ways to look the way you want to without having to make your wallet cry! (Although, you should always spoil yourself once in a while).

This dress, for example is $35 at Brandy Melville

While this dress is $19.80 at Forever 21

That's $15 and some change in your pocket!

http://d2zfn3mvw4uww1.cloudfront.net/static/media/product/images/230322/v_14085813b6a8fdefe75871096808b2b5_230322-05-2.jpg
These Indian drapey pants from Cotton On are $10.00

http://lp.hm.com/hmprod?set=key[source],value[/environment/2014/3BL_0277_008R.jpg]&set=key[rotate],value[0.7]&set=key[width],value[4201]&set=key[height],value[4912]&set=key[x],value[546]&set=key[y],value[130]&set=key[type],value[FASHION_FRONT]&hmver=0&call=url[file:/product/large]
Compared to these pants that are $17.95 from H&M

So my point once again, is to show you guys how you can save so much money by just looking around other stores instead of just grabbing and go! Walk around the mall or outlets or wherever you shop and just compare prices because you can always go back if you can not seem to get the item that is most expensive out of your mind! This is not so much of a trick, it's just having options and since I'm trying my best to help myself, I just wanted to help you guys out as well and share my story since that is what my blog is all about!

I hope you guys are having a very laid back or at least enjoying your Sunday to get started for another week to your beautiful lives and learned something new!

Life is a work in progress...
